Until now, we purposefully made it difficult to contribute to Flashlight Worthy. We were afraid we'd be barraged with endless suggestions of the same popular books: Twilight, The DaVinci Code, Eat Pray Love. Those are not books that need help being discovered. Well, times change. So many fantastic contributions came from people who figured out how to reach us that we made it easier. If you have an idea for a book list you'd like to contribute to Flashlight Worthy, fill out the form below and we'll be in touch. |
What Makes a Great Book List? It's hard to define a great book list (more...) It's hard to define a great book list — it's best to fill out the form to the left and we'll hone the idea together via email. That said, here's some starting guidance: First, imagine coming up with a list. Take the books you'd include and spread them out on a table. Now leave the room and have a stranger walk in and examine the front and back covers of the books. Would he or she be able to figure out what they have in common beyond their basic genre? If they say "they're memoirs," then it's not a good list. If they say "they seem to be memoirs by U.S. Presidents," then you're on the right track. Second, also remember that Flashlight Worthy is about really, really good books. If in doubt, leave the book off the list. For Authors If you're looking for more attention for your book (more...) If you're looking for more attention for your book — either new or old — consider submitting a book list to Flashlight Worthy. It's great exposure for your work and you'll be in the company of authors like The New Yorker's Tad Friend, recipient of perfect 5-star Amazon ratings Nadine Rosin, and New York Times' Notable Author Anne Matthews. While our editorial standards don't allow you to include your own book on your list, every list is credited with a byline and a bio, and permanent links to your book will appear in both places. A link in the introduction to the list is also possible; see this list for an example. For Bloggers Whether you write about books or not (more...) Whether you write about books or not, if you're looking for more traffic and attention for your blog (as well as fresh content for you to blog about!), you should submit a book list to Flashlight Worthy.
