Katherine by Anya Seton was written in the 50's but has stood the test of time. It is about a woman in 14th century England who becomes the mistress of the most powerful man in the land and is also Geoffrey Chaucer's sister-in-law. It is romantic, sweeping in scope and utterly fascinating.
