I have a book I recently wrote and now I am interested in getting people familiar with. asked 264 days ago by Jon B. - 2 answersMy name is Jon B Barry, and I recently completed a book. It is an e book and is available on both Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. My book is incredibly unique, a non fiction romance and travel book. Six Weeks with Shelby is an adventure and journey of two people, Shelby and Jon Barry. What begins in Carrabelle, Florida in early October and ends in late November of 2010, portrays a short business relationship between photographer and model in the beginning, to very best friends, by trip's end. Though this book is about the intense photographic artwork they made, their story is about the times they had and the very close relationship they developed over these six weeks as they traveled from Florida through seven states to Louisiana. My question is, how do I present this book to this or any of the other book organizations so that it can become known and appreciated? I am at the starting point. Have you offered to do a mini-presentation at book clubs or book sellers - just to get your book in front of the public? How about calling the local library to do the same thing? Call the newspaper and see if they will run a blurb of some sort about local guy writes romantic novel.... There are all kinds of areas where would be authors/authors meet online I would think, so why not ask their advice. John Grisham gave away A LOT of his first book, The Firm before it started selling .. carried them in the truck of his car. ''Keep talking to people who love books and ask their advice. People love to be asked advice (listen to me chatter away!).. go to some publishing books (Writer's Market) and read the articles by authors telling their experience. Google questions about doing this to see what pops up. Oddly (to me), there are always authors around - just snoop them out and become engaged in conversation with them; find someone who will introduce you. Good luck! PS DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!! It sounds delightful.... Hi Bert...thanks for your thoughtful reply. First off..my book is an ebook. It is easy enough to give away and I have done that..and have managed to get some reviews from that. I belong to Writer's market and I am doing things there. Something strange I learned. I am not being "piggy backed" on Amazon. Another author..have no idea who it is has come on afterwards and listed himself as Jon Barry, without the B...in the middle. The books he sells actually degrade women. Additionally, somehow or other he has used photos that somewhat resemble the actual person in my book, of which I have many photos associated with my book. I have found out that my only recourse is to get an injunction..but that requires a huge bond for each book as well as huge attorney fees...and I am no John Grisham at this point in time..with a team of attorneys on retainer. So I am stuck with it. Any ideas how to overcome this..would be great. I am persistent, and I know that the book is a very good one. I am yet to have anyone who has read it not just rave about it. So it is a contagious book and is going to continue to do better and better. I am joining book clubs, book reviewers clubs..and sending press releases and such. To TV stations..I am sending out DVDs with along with interviews on the DVDs and the book itself in both epub format as well as the 900 phot pdf version that will shortly appear on google ebooks for sale. I am definitely encouraged and I thank you for your input. Right now the book is available on both Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005GRBPJW and Barnes and Noble http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Six-Weeks-with-Shelby/Andrew-Southard/e/2940013200753 Again, thanks..I can be reached at jonbbarry@gmail.com
