I want to know a good vampire or a dangerous kind of thing, romance novel (that isnt twilight) asked 314 days ago by Stormy - 13 answers

I want to know a good novel about vampires or something dangerous that is also a romance novel. I dont want any suggestions on the twilight saga, because i have them all. I want the book to capture my attention so much that i cant put the book down till i have read the whole thing. I dont like extremely long book ( books the exceed 600 pages). I dont like sappy romance novels that are all about having sex with people, i want an actuall story. I dont know if I am making any sense , but if I am please give me a suggestion. Im tired of looking in the library for three hours just to find one book. I like to know what the book is and about before i go looking for it, so i dont waste my day in a library. Thanks alot. :)

You are probably familiar with Anne Rice's vampire novels. I liked only the couple of early ones - esp. Interview with a Vampire. Don't think about the movie - the book is much better! .... The Vampire Lestat... think that is close to the title.

Other than these books by Rice, I don't know any vampire books. Good luck!

@ Bert : Thanks , though i have read Anne Rice's novels, and own most of them too. I love reading, when i am not busy. My sister is really into her books, and when my sister likes something she wants every one around her to like it too. She is an AMAZING author.

Here are a few good young adult:
House of night series (marked is #1)
Evermore by Claudia Gray
Vampire academy series

Sydney says:

Try vampire diaries!

Probably a bit old now but I enjoyed L J Smith's night world series when I read them. There are quite a few of them - they were young adult. There's also Blood and Chrysanthemums which is darker and mostly set between modern America and Japan about 300 years ago. Blood and Ice is an interesting modern twist on the vampire book set in the arctic and I remember reading The Thread that Binds the Bones when I was younger - I am pretty sure that was a vampire book as well. There are elements of romance in these, but apart from the L J Smith ones, they aren't sappy.

i really like the Drake Chronicles.

I just read "A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah Harkness, and I loved it! It's the first in a series, but the second book comes out this summer.

Bert says:

Stormy: If you found Anne Rice interesting as an author, you may want to read some background on her private life. She is a fascinating woman. I would love to visit with her. She lived in New Orleans about an hour from here... Hope you got some suggestions from others I am not into vampires but really did like the Interview with a vampire, though. Found Ms Rice more interesting as personality than her books...

I haven't read too many vampire novels, but my favorite is Robin McKinley's "Sunshine." Not a 'romantic' take on vampires (like Twilight), but an interesting one, plus other paranormal aspects.

Bryanna says:

Try
The Demonica Series by Larissa Ione. Very Dangerous and Exotic.
I will warn you. It is on the..."mature" side.

Sara says:

I don't know if anyone suggest this but Vampire Kisses is a very good series. :)

I have a book about a demonically possessed car, bought by a high school senior, he and his steady (engaged by end of book come of age as they prepare to deal with life outside of mom and dad's world. Romance, light sex and dealing with a unusual element. The books entitled ALVA available through Amazon, B&N, etc. Many people told me once they started they had to finish. It is less than two hundred pages. I hope you enjoy
