In the beginning of the book the heroines mother is giving birth to her, I believe something was amiss with the birth and the mother was told that her baby died.

Here is what I know the heroine in the book is named Lara and she is a photographer and she travels all over the world taking pictures of war torn countries, the hero is named Nick and he has always had a thing for Lara but in the beginning she doesn't have the same feelings for him. He rebounds from Lara and ends up with the daughter of his family's maid Jacqueline (think this is the correct spelling).
