What are some good mermaid or siren books?? asked 639 days ago by Violet W. - 3 answers
I just finished Eel's Reverence, an allegorical fantasy by Marian Allen... you might enjoy that one. "Wet Magic," by E. Nesbit, the first modern writer for children; also "Magic By The Lake," by Edward Eager (who rightly counted Nesbit as his greatest influence.) Eva's Doubloon. Excellent read. "It is safer to leave some secrets undiscovered. Seeking solitude to grieve the loss of his wife, Ethan moved to a remote island in the Bahamas. But on his first evening at his own private beach, he finds he isn't alone, or welcome. After the warnings become less subtle during a scuba diving accident, Ethan discovers there is more to the beach women beneath the surface. Unheeding their last warning to leave, Ethan is finally attacked, seeing with his own eyes that mermaids are much more than just myth. His life seemingly spins out of control as he helps a woman escape an abusive relationship, discovers the gold coin given to him is one of two in known existence, and evades a ruthless Caribbean treasure collector that will stop at nothing to obtain it. As Ethan lets go of his deceased wife, he discovers a new life and new relationships, all revolving around his decision of whether or not to accept a certain proposal."
