What are some great medical thrillers?? asked 629 days ago by Lane - 7 answers

I have gotten into medical thrillers lately, but I've started to run out of really good ones. What are your favorite medical thrillers??

Judy says:

Michael Palmer has a great series of medical thrillers. "The Fifth Vial" is an early one of his. I believe he's written at least 3 more since then.

Rebecca S. says:

Robin Cook does a good job.

Lane (who asked the original question) says:

I've read a lot of theirs (Michael Palmer and Robin Cook). I randomly grabbed a few of each of theirs from my Dads bookcase when I was visiting my parents...That's really how I've gotten into medical thrillers (I'm also in nursing school, so maybe there's some morbid curiosity too). Can anyone think of any other authors, or, even better, books in particular, that you like. Judy and Rebecca - thanks!! What are your favorite books by those authors?? I'd love to see if I've read them, and if not, go grab them!!

Dara says:

Patron Saint of Plagues by Barth Anderson. Mexico City meets plague. Scary. Intelligent.

Megna K. says:

Well from Robin Cook, I've read 'Shock' , 'Marker' and 'Chromosomes'..they were pretty good, you could read them if you haven't.

Medical Books:

1)Shutter Island by Denis Lehane (theres a movie too! starring leodicaprio..you must have heard of it)

2) Blood Poison by D.H.Dublin

Forensic Thrillers that Ive come across lately is 'Monday Mourning by Kathy Reichs'

if you like Murder mysteries you should read 'The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. by John Le Carré'

I love humour and Crime if you do too--King's Ransom by Ed McBain (1981-- is a classic)

Other than that:

1)Catcher in the Rye by J.D.Salinger (not medical, but an excellent read)

2) Stephen King ( if you love thrillers you'll love him)

I love to watch murder mysteries-its got some medical as well-- as well so you should catch

1) Criminal Minds
2) Castle (its light but good plots with a hint of slapstick comedy)--and there's a book coming out too (the sneak preview of the first five chapters are out on http://abc.go.com/shows/castle/naked-heat/ThemeGallery/535998)
3) Bones

Esther says:

Robin Cook is definitely the master of the medical thriller. I also read a book called Therapy recently, forget the author but shouldn't be too hard to find, it's a psychological thriller and I really enjoyed it.

Barbara K. says:

The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson takes place in the near future and discusses bioethical issues in addition to being a can't-put-it-down thriller.
