I like "Girl With A Pearl Earring." Another is "The Heretic's Daughter," set in the time of the Salem witch trials. Excellent stories both, and compelling. If you like historical novels.

I liked Anne of Green Gables and all of the books in that series. The Help was really great. I've been mentioned Kindred to everyone now that I've read it through twice. It keeps you on edge and is very entertaining. There are so many others, but these few are good starters.

YES, The Help is terrific. One of the best first novels I've ever read.

Don't know if you have read any Anne Rivers Siddons, she has great stories, really good books. I second The Help. Can you give more info on the genres you like? I read all kinds of genres and would like to make suggestions.

Try "Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less", by Jeffrey Archer. It's my favorite book of all time, and everyone I recommend it to loves it also. Can't go wrong with Jeffrey Archer!!
